December’s new moon solar eclipse arrives to bring you a gift!

On Wednesday, December 25 at 9:12 p.m., the moon will meet the sun at 4 degrees Capricorn to form a new moon solar eclipse. Eclipses are super-charged lunar expressions with the power of three new moons—they are the tool the universe uses to create change in our lives. And this particular is one is even more meaningful for many different reasons.

Happening only four days after the Winter Solstice, this eclipse touches a point in the sky that is known for bringing enormous change at a collective level. On this day, as we acknowledge the shortest day and longest night, we experience the symbolism of the sun dying just to be reborn. It is, in this born-again, when the seed gets planted for a new beginning for all of us here on Earth.

Just as importantly, this new moon solar eclipse happens in Capricorn, the ambitious, self-starting sign that will be hosting not one, but three major and rare alignments that are set to bring a new life as well as a brand-new world order. In a way, this eclipse is a glimpse into the future—into 2020 and beyond (learn about the astrology of 2020 in this blog post).

Fortunately, two planetary powerhouses are in a friendly position to this eclipse (yay!). Jupiter, the bestowed of cosmic abundance, sits right next to both the sun and the moon to infuse their meet-up with its expansive, jovial, and fortunate influence. This is awesome news, dears! While it is true hot Jupiter is not at his best in the cold Capricorn, he is still able to bless the outcome of this lunation—after all, he is the biggest planet in the solar system. And in mythology, he was the god of all gods, always getting the final word.

But let’s get to the most fun part. Uranus, the planet of unpredictability, will also be sending friendly beams from his current position in grounded, trustworthy Taurus. And while his influence will bring a good amount of surprises and unexpected events, his way of getting us out of our comfort zone might, indeed, bring the flashes of insight we need in order to keep looking up and thinking big as we enter a new year and a brand-new decade.

During the days surrounding this solar eclipse in Capricorn, pay careful attention to the signs that manifest in a certain area of your life—they hold the key to making the astrology of 2020 work for you and not against you.
